British Columbia Fall River Expedition
14 days
Advanced/Intermidate Paddlers
Experience super-natural British Columbia’s world renowned rivers with Liquid Lifestyles’ expert guides and top-of-the-line equipment. On this all-inclusive 14-day big water tour, you’ll come face to face with a variety of B.C.’s famous rivers, paddle world class rapids and surf huge waves.
This tour will begin on the Clearwater River located in BC’s interior, continue to various mountain regions around BC and conclude on the Sunshine Coast at the legendary Skookumchuck tidal rapids. Nights will be spent camping in BC’s lush wilderness and three-meals a day will be provided.
BC has been a long-famed location for whitewater kayakers. Paddling through classic North American big water canyons you can spot an array of wildlife ranging from American bald eagles to grizzly bears.
Liquid Lifestyles’ guides will pick you up from Kamloops International Airport and take you to our base in the Clearwater Valley. Here, you will have the opportunity to get reacquainted with the water and work on your play boating skills on the big waters of the Clearwater River.
Once everyone is comfortable, the team will hit the road and tour 3-4 of BC’s premier big water runs. River selection will be group ability and water level dependent.
The tour will conclude with a big wave play boating clinic at the world-renowned Skookumchuck tidal rapids.
Key Facts
British Columbia- Seventy-five percent of Canada’s western province is mountainous (more than 1,000 metres (3,300 ft) above sea level and 60% is forested. Much of BC is wild or semi-wild, so that populations of many species flourish. It is not rare to spot grizzly and black bears, deer, elk, moose, caribou, big-horn sheep, mountain goats, marmots, beavers, muskrat, coyotes, wolves, cougar and eagles.
Clearwater River- Named after its clear, pristine water, the Clearwater River is one of the best whitewater playgrounds in western Canada. The river enjoys the mystique of being a protected area, ensuring that its crystal clear water and volcanic canyons will never be developed. With ample flat water and world-class whitewater (I-VI), all levels of boaters will find fantastic viewscapes, great access and an abundance of room to play.
Skookumchuck Narrows- Each day, tides force large amounts of seawater through the narrows—200 billion gallons of water on a 3-metre (9.8 ft) tide. The tidal patterns at Skookumchuck keep the water moving at virtually all times in the narrows area, and water levels on either side of the rapids can exceed up to 2 metres (6.6 ft) in height which creates one of the biggest, smoothest waves in the world.
